Automatic Washing and Cleaning Systems

Automatic washing system at SRS are equipped with a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) housed in a NEMA 4X enclosure. The user interface prompts the operator through comprehensive menus to set up a WASH, RINSE and PURGE cycle and allows the PLC to operate the system automatically, while displaying current status information.

The PLC monitors a series of sensors and contacts to verify proper grounding, closed door or container security and other safety parameters, before starting the cycle.

Fault conditions are diagnosed and clearly displayed, to ensure operator safety and ease of operation. The unit is systematically shut down in a fail safe mode in the event of a fault condition or at the end of the cycle.

Safety Features

SRS automatic wash systems are designed to be used in hazardous areas where all precautions are taken to prevent any risk of accidents due to explosions, corrosion and operator errors. The following are some of the design features which address safety:

  • Optional Class I, Division I electrical motors and controls
  • The control panel contained within a NEMA 4X enclosure, with purge capabilities offered as an option
  • Optional NEMA 7 enclosures are offered to house local "on-off" controls, with the main control panel located in a remote non-hazardous area
  • Air, nitrogen or CO2 purge system to remove vapors from enclosed areas
  • Extensive grounding practices, stainless steel and non-sparking aluminum are used throughout the system for optimal safety when working with flammable solvents
  • The controller monitors all applicable parameters to ensure safe and uninterrupted operation of the system throughout the cycle
  • Interlock sensors to ensure doors and or lids are secure
  • Static grounding is electrically bonded for the elimination of static charges
  • Liquid proving switches on feed pumps monitor flow
  • Current overload interlocks on all motors
  • High/low level sensors to ensure proper fluid levels throughout the system
  • Operating conditions are detected by the controller, and clear status messages are displayed on the console
  • The controller executes a safe and complete shut down on fault conditions
